Sunday

SEATTLE, Wash. – In the final results from Pacific Raceways and the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Chris Demke, Tujunga, Calif., and Doug Gordon, Paso Robles, Calif., took home the wins in Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car respectively.

Demke, worked his way through the field and ran 5.348 seconds at 271.02 mph in his final round victory over Johnny Ahten, Santa Clarita, Calif., who clocked in at 11.602 seconds, 65.58 mph. Off the line Ahten was up in smoke and Demke drove by him to take the win. This was Demke’s 5th win of the season. He has scored two National and three Regional event wins and is looking to continue his success the rest of year and move towards the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series World Championship.

Gordon faced off against Sean Bellemeur, Anaheim, Calif., and posted a winning run of 5.602 seconds, 256.11 mph in his ’12 Mustang. Bellemeur drove to a 5.628 second, 255.24 mph lap for his runner up finish. This final round was a rematch between Gordon and Bellemeur from the nationals a few weeks back at Pacific Raceways. Bellemeur had the better light off the line but Gordon had the better car down track to take the win. Gordon defeated Bellemeur for the second time this year at this track for his 2nd Wally of the year.

Another racer taking home a Wally this weekend in Comp Eliminator was Jeff Lane, North Bend, Wash. He posted a winning run of 9.810 seconds, 98.48 mph. He faced off against Adam Bowdish, Vancouver, Wash., who red lite off the line. Lane has had much success running in the Comp Eliminator class in his career and picked up his 19th win in Division 6 history.

Other racers visiting the winner’s circle this weekend were Rick McKinney, Richmond, B.C., in Super Stock; Dave Jung, Surrey, B.C., in Stock Eliminator; Mike Shannon, Kelowna, B.C., in Super Comp; Rick Cates, Canyon, Texas, in Super Gas; and Jerry Denton, Tempe, Ariz., in Super Street. In the division’s RH Racecars Top Sportsman class it was Mike Lucas, Fort St. John, B.C., taking the win while Nick Axtman Jr., Silverdale, Wash., won in the division’s Big Rig Rentals Top Dragster series. The Sportsman Motorcycle class presented by Harley-Davidson also competed at this event and taking home the win was Jon Jenkins, Richmond, B.C.

Northwest Division racers head to Mission Raceway for their next NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event, September 5-7.

SEATTLE, Wash. – Racers made final qualifying runs and a few classes had eliminations today as the fields were set for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Pacific Raceways. 

Racers in 11classes of competition took to the track that included Top Alcohol Dragsters and Funny Cars, Stock and Super Stock, and Comp. Gates open at 8 a.m. on Sunday with racing scheduled to start at 10 a.m.  Tickets are $20 for adults, children 6-12 are $5 each day and children 5 & under are free with a paid adult. Friday

SEATTLE, Wash. – The NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series and the Northwest Division kicked off today at Pacific Raceways as nearly 500 racers took to the track for opening day qualifying and time trials.

Highlighting the day’s action was Comp Eliminator and the Big Rentals Top Dragster and the RH Racecars Top Sportsman.  Each of these classes will make qualifying runs on Saturday that will set the fields for Sunday’s Eliminations.

Saturday’s racing action gets underway at 9:30 a.m. for final time trials and qualifying in all classes.  Saturday caps off the day with the alcohol classes making three qualifying runs starting at 12:00 p.m. Eliminations are scheduled to begin Saturday afternoon for a few classes and continue on Sunday.

This event is the fifth of six in the Northwest Davison where drivers earn points leading to divisional, regional and national championships as well as a chance at a share of the year-end purse of more than $519,000. Categories include Top Alcohol Dragster, Top Alcohol Funny Car, Comp Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock Eliminator, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street.   The division’s RH Racecars Top Sportsman, Top Dragster, NHRA Sportsman Motorcycle Series presented by Harley-Davidson series will also be contested.

Gates open at 7 a.m. Friday and Saturday and Sunday 8 p.m. Qualifying and time trials are at 9:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Top Dragster, Comp Eliminator qualify Friday at noon, 3 and 6 p.m. and Saturday at 11:45 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car qualify Saturday is at noon, 3:45 and 7 p.m. Eliminations begin at 4 p.m. on Saturday and continue on Sunday at 10 a.m. with Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car running round 1 at noon.

Tickets for the Pacific Raceways event are $20 each day for adults.  Children ages 6-12 are $5 each day. Children 5 and under are admitted free with a paid adult.  All tickets include a Pit Pass.

The event is the one of six in Northwest Division competition. The division’s RH RacecarsTop Sportsman Series, Top Dragster Series and the Sportsman Motorcycle Series presented by Harley-Davidson will also run in conjunction with the event.

BONUS  PROGRAMS: NHRA LUCAS OIL DRAG RACING SERIES POINTS FUND: a $519,000 point fund from Lucas Oil, which will be shared by 2014 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series divisional, regional and national champions. Regional awards include $10,000 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions with Divisional awards of $3,000 to the champions in both Competition and Super Stock; $2,000 each to the champions in Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. The seven national champions will share a bonus of $135,000.

JEGS ALLSTARS: The best of the best from each of NHRA’s seven divisions will compete for a share of the $124,000 point fund from Jegs High Performance. The 2014 Jegs Allstars event will culminate a year-long points battle between drivers in each of NHRA’s Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series’ eight classes as well as Top Sportsman and Top Dragster. The top points earner in each category will qualify to represent his/her division at the 2014 Jegs Allstars. Points are based on in-division races only.

The winning division and regional teams will share $25,000 and individual awards include $7,000 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions, $6,000 to champions in Comp Eliminator and Super Stock, $5,000 to Top Sportsman and Top Dragster champions, and $4,500 to the Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street champions. Runners-up in all categories will earn $2,000 apiece. Each Allstars competitor will also receive a share of a $25,000 towing fund to get to the event.

Event sponsor, Jegs High Performance, is offering a “double up” bonus to Jegs Allstars participants. Any 2014 Jegs Allstars champion who also wins the national event will have his/her Allstars prize doubled.

NHRA SPORTSMAN MOTORCYCLE SERIES presented by HARLEY-DAVIDSON: The NHRA Sportsman Motorcycle Series presented by Harley-Davidson, run in conjunction with the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, is an opportunity for competitors in NHRA’s Sportsman Motorcycle class to earn points toward divisional championships. The $14,000 champions’ purse posted by Harley-Davidson will be paid to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place points finishers in NHRA divisions that host Sportsman Motorcycles.

RH RACECARS TOP SPORTSMAN SERIES: The Northwest Division RH Racecars Top Sportsman Series, run in conjunction with the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, is an opportunity for competitors in the Top Sportsman class to earn points toward divisional championships. The $3,500 champions’ purse will be paid to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place points finishers.

NORTHWEST DIVISION TOP DRAGSTER SERIES: The Northwest Division Top Dragster Series, run in conjunction with the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, is an opportunity for competitors in the Northwest division’s Top Dragster class to earn points toward divisional championships.
