Saturday

KENT, Wash. - Elimination rounds ensued from the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event presented by Les Schwab Tires at Pacific Raceways. Hundreds of racers squared off in head to head competition.  Winners were recognized in Top Alcohol Dragster, Top Alcohol Funny Car, Comp Eliminator, Super Stock and the rest of the classes that make up the nationwide series.

Garret Bateman, Albany, Ore., and Megan McKernan, Sierra Madre, Calif., faced off in the final round of Top Alcohol Dragster. Bateman ran 5.336 seconds, 267.64 mph to handedly defeat McKernan 5.923 seconds, 194.72 mph. In the Top Alcohol Funny Car finale, Chris Marshall, McMinnville, Ore., ran 5.774 seconds, 252.52 mph to defeat Brian Hough, Junction City, Ore., 5.761 seconds, 257.33 mph.

Sunday’s event produced multiple home state winners at Pacific Raceways. Jeff Lane, North Bend, Wash., hit 8.085, 155.20 mph defeating Ryan Warter, Olalla, Wash., 8.801 153.70 in the Comp final round. In the Stock Eliminator final, it was Greg Kielman, Vancouver, Wash., who went 11.585, 109.50 defeating Larry Peterson, Eugene, who had a runner up pass of 10.540, 122.67.

Greg Hehr of Ravensdale, Wash., ran 9.937, 117.29 to defeat Dave Kelly of Walla Walla, Wash., who had a runner up finish of 9.898, 157.61 for the Super Gas finale. In Super Street, Jeff Jackson, Tacoma, Wash., cruised at 10.876, 152.54 edging out Stephanie Frisch, Prosser, Wash., 10.868, 125.52.

Shawn Herbst, Selah,Wash., hit 7.156, 192.93 to defeat Mike Williams, Tilley, Alb., 6.980, 198.06 in the Top Sportsman final presented by JBS. In the Top Dragster final presented by Rig Rentals, Tony Burton, Lacey, Wash., 7.143, 187.18 defeated Kevin Chambers, Bellingham, Wash., 6.958, 195.39.

In Sportsman Motorcycle presented by Harley Davidson, Danny Patridge, Kennewick, Wash., got the starting line advantage and hit 8.155, 152.85  to beat out Jim Werre, Renton, Wash., 9.847, 137.69.

Other drivers visiting the winner’s circle were; John Chitwood in Super Pro, Rick McKinney, Richmond, B.C., in Super Stock, Trevor Harkema, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, in Super Comp, and Dennis McGinnis, Maple Valley, Wash., in Pro.

KENT, Wash. – Racers in the Top Alcohol Dragster and Funny Car classes made final qualifying runs today that set their fields for Sunday’s eliminations for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Regional presented by Les Schwab Tires at Pacific Raceways.  The top eight racers in each class will go into eliminations beginning on Sunday at noon 9:15 a.m.

The Les Schwab Tire sponsored NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Regional event is the fifth of six in the NHRA Northwest Division with racers earning points toward national, regional and divisional championships as well as a chance at a share of the year-end purse of more than $500,000.  Other classes competing include Comp Eliminator, JBS Top Sportsman Series, Rig Rentals Top Dragster Series that took to the track on Friday and will conclude on Sunday with final eliminations and the winner’s circle celebration. 

Gates open on Sunday at 8 a.m.  Racing begins at 9:15 a.m.  Tickets for the event are $20 for adults, children 6-12 are $5 per day and kids 5 and under are free with a paid adult.  For more information call Pacific Raceways (253) 639-5927 or visit www.pacificraceways.com.

Friday

KENT, Wash. – Racing continued today for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series regional event presented by Les Schwab Tires, the fifth of six in the NHRA Northwest Division where drivers will earn points leading to national, regional and divisional championships.

Today the 270 mph Top Alcohol Dragster and Funny Car classes highlighted the event making their initial qualifying runs.  They continue with a pair of qualifying runs on Saturday at noon and 3:30 pm which will set their fields for Sunday’s eliminations.

The division’s JBS Top Sportsman Series, Rig Rentals Top Dragster Series and Comp Eliminator classes also made a single run today, and will make final qualifying passes on Saturday at 11:45 and 3:15 p.m.  Super Stock, Super Gas and the rest of the classes in competition ran qualifying and time trials today, which will continue tomorrow, followed by early rounds of eliminations, and final eliminations on Sunday. 

Final qualifying on Saturday will also include the final round of eliminations for all classes from the Protect the Harvest NHRA Northwest Nationals that were postponed two weeks ago at Pacific Raceways due to rain.

Tickets for the Pacific Raceways event are $20 Saturday and $20 Sunday. Children ages 6-12 are $5 each day. Children 5 and under are admitted free with a paid adult.  All tickets include a Pit Pass.  For more information, please call the track, (253) 639-5927, or visit www.PacificRaceways.com.

KENT, Wash. – The Lucas Oil Regional presented by Les Schwab Tires will take place at Pacific Raceways on August 18-21. The event is one of 45 scheduled across the country where drivers in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series earn points leading to divisional, regional and national championships as well as a chance at a share of the year-end purse of more than $519,000. Categories include Top Alcohol Dragster, Top Alcohol Funny Car, Comp Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock Eliminator, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. The division’s JBS Top Sportsman Series, Rig Rentals Top Dragster Series and the Sportsman Motorcycle Series presented by Harley-Davidson will also run in conjunction with the event.

The event will kick off on Thursday with elimination rounds for the postponed Lucas Oil event from Spokane County Raceway originally scheduled earlier this year. All classes will get one time trial followed by all rounds of eliminations and the winner’s circle ceremony.

Friday kicks off the Pacific Raceways Lucas Oil event as gates open at 7 a.m. Friday and Saturday, and Sunday at 8 a.m. Qualifying and time trials are at 9:15 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Comp Eliminator qualify Friday at noon and 3 p.m. and Saturday at 11:45 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car qualify Friday at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday at noon and 3:30 p.m. Eliminations for some classes begin Saturday afternoon and continue Sunday at 9:15 a.m. Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car run round 1 at noon on Sunday.

Final qualifying on Saturday will also include the final round of eliminations for all classes from the Protect the Harvest NHRA Nationals that were postponed two weeks ago at Pacific Raceway due to rain.

Tickets for the Pacific Raceways event are $20 Friday, $20 Saturday and $20 Sunday. Children ages 6-12 are $5 each day. Children 5 and under are admitted free with a paid adult. All tickets include a Pit Pass.

BONUS PROGRAMS:
NHRA LUCAS OIL DRAG RACING SERIES POINTS FUND: a $519,000 point fund from Lucas Oil, which will be shared by 2016 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series divisional, regional and national champions. Regional awards include $10,000 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions with Divisional awards of $3,000 to the champions in both Competition and Super Stock; $2,000 each to the champions in Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. The seven national champions will share a bonus of $135,000.

JEGS ALLSTARS: The best of the best from each of NHRA’s seven divisions will compete for a share of the $124,000 point fund from Jegs High Performance. The 2017 Jegs Allstars event will culminate a year-long points battle between drivers in each of NHRA’s Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series’ eight classes as well as Top Sportsman and Top Dragster. The top points earner in each category will qualify to represent his/her division at the 2017 Jegs Allstars to be held at the 2017 K&N Filters NHRA Route 66 Nationals. Points are based on in-division races only.

The winning division and regional teams will share $25,000 and individual awards include $7,000 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions, $6,000 to champions in Comp Eliminator and Super Stock, $5,000 to Top Sportsman and Top Dragster champions, and $4,500 to the Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street champions. Runners-up in all categories will earn $2,000 apiece. Each Allstars competitor will also receive a share of a $25,000 towing fund to get to the event.

Event sponsor, Jegs High Performance, is offering a “double up” bonus to Jegs Allstars participants. Any 2017 Jegs Allstars champion who also wins the national event will have his/her Allstars prize doubled.

NHRA SPORTSMAN MOTORCYCLE SERIES presented by HARLEY-DAVIDSON: The NHRA Sportsman Motorcycle Series presented by Harley-Davidson, run in conjunction with the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, is an opportunity for competitors in NHRA’s Sportsman Motorcycle class to earn points toward divisional championships. The $14,000 champions’ purse posted by Harley-Davidson will be paid to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place points finishers in NHRA divisions that host Sportsman Motorcycles.

JBS TOP SPORTSMAN SERIES: The Northwest Division RH Racecars Top Sportsman Series, run in conjunction with the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, is an opportunity for competitors in the Top Sportsman class to earn points toward divisional championships. The $3,500 champions’ purse will be paid to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place points finishers.
