Summit Racing Series National Championship rules

2011 NHRA SUMMIT RACING SERIES NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GUIDELINES

 

 

SUPER PRO ET (1/4 mile 7.00 – 11.99)

1.       Computer:  Prohibited unless stock OEM equipment.  See general regulations 9:1.

2.       Data Recorders:  Permitted.  See general regulations 9:2 & 9:10.

3.       Delay Boxes:  Permitted.  One box/device only attached to transbrake and/or throttle timer only.  Refer to 2011 NHRA Rulebook.  All wiring must be clearly identifiable for inspection.

4.       Transbrake:  Permitted.

5.       Line lock:  Four-wheel line lock permitted.

6.       Automated Shifter:  Permitted.

7.       Throttle Control:  Permitted per NHRA rulebook.

8.       Ignition:  Stutter boxes prohibited.  Starting line and or ‘high side’ rev limiters permitted.  Two-steps, rev-limiters or any other rpm limiting devices, legal unto themselves but altered or installed so as to function as a down-track rpm controller, prohibited.

9.       Switches & Buttons:  All switches and/or buttons must be standard mechanical connection type.

Infrared lasers, retinal scan, fingerprint, light source or other non-mechanical type switch prohibited.

 

PRO ET (1/4 mile 9.00 – 13.99)

1.       Computer:  Prohibited unless stock OEM equipment.  See general regulations 9:1.

2.       Data Recorders:  Prohibited.  See general regulations 9:2 & 9:10.

3.       Delay Boxes:  Prohibited.

4.       Transbrake:  Permitted.

5.       Line lock:  Four-wheel line lock permitted.

6.       Automated Shifter:  Permitted.

7.       Throttle Control:  Throttle must be manually operated by the driver’s foot.  Electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics or any other device may in no way affect the throttle operation.  A deadstop under the carburetor or gas pedal is permitted.  Throttle timers, counters prohibited.

8.       Ignition:  Stutter boxes prohibited.  Starting line and or ‘high side’ rev limiters permitted.  Two steps, rev limiters or any other rpm limiting devices, legal unto themselves but altered or installed so as to function as a down-track rpm controller, prohibited.

SPORTSMAN ET (1/4 mile 12.00 – 19.99)

1.       Computer:  Prohibited unless stock OEM equipment.  See general regulations 9:1.

2.       Data Recorders:  Prohibited.  See general regulations 9:2 & 9:10.

3.       Delay Boxes:  Prohibited.

4.       Transbrake:  Prohibited.

5.       Line lock:  Four-wheel line lock prohibited.  Two-wheel line lock permitted on non-drive wheels only.

6.       Automated Shifter:  Prohibited unless OEM equipped.

7.       Throttle Control:  Throttle must be manually operated by the driver’s foot.  Electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics or any other device may in no way affect the throttle operation.  A deadstop under the carburetor or gas pedal is permitted.  Throttle timers, counters prohibited.

8.       Ignition:  Stutter boxes prohibited.  Single stage rev limiters permitted.  Rev limiters or any other rpm limiting devices, legal unto themselves but altered or installed in so as to function as a down-track rpm controller prohibited.  Crank trigger system prohibited, unless OEM distributorless ignition.

9.       Switches & Buttons:  All switches and/or buttons must be standard mechanical connection type.  Infrared lasers, retinal scan, fingerprint, light source or other non-mechanical type switch prohibited.

10.    Tow vehicles:  Prohibited.

11.    Exhaust:  Muffler(s) required.

 

SUPER PRO BIKE ET (1/4 mile 7.50 – 15.99)

 Same electronic rules as Super Pro cars applies to motorcycles.

 

GENERAL INFORMATION

1.       Effective 1/1/2008 drivers competing at NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series events including the NHRA Summit Racing Series National Championships will be required to be 18 years of age or older.

2.       A competitor entered in the Summit Racing Series National Championship may not compete in any other category at the event.

3.       Should the Division Champion be unable to attend an alternate will be selected in the following manner: 1st alternate will be Race of Champions winner for bracket; 2nd alternate would be event runner-up; 3rd alternate would be Race of Champions runner-up.  In the case of Division 6 & 7, reverse the reference of the event and Race of Champions, since their Race of Champions winner is actually the NHRA Summit National Championship qualifier.
